Membership types

Two ways to join

Most members join individually, but we also welcome group applications from workplaces and associations.

Individual

Individual Membership

For any eligible adult joining on their own behalf.

Institutions applying as a group need at least 10 individual members willing to join.

Common questions before you join

Membership is open to civil servants, teachers, small business owners, farmers, private sector employees, family members of existing members, retirees, and members of the general public who meet our basic eligibility requirements.
Joining costs a one-time membership fee of K4,000, plus a monthly minimum contribution of K7,000 to shares, K2,000 to deposits, K1,500 towards funeral cover, and a K900 monthly service fee.
Complete the application form below, or visit any branch with a valid ID, proof of income, and two passport photos. A membership officer will follow up within a couple of business days.
Loan eligibility is based on your savings and share balance, so it depends on how much and how consistently you save after joining. Speak to a loans officer for guidance specific to your situation.
Yes — shares are refundable in full when a member formally exits the cooperative, subject to the standard exit process and settlement of any outstanding obligations.
As a member-owned cooperative, the fund is made up entirely of members' own savings and shares, governed democratically by the membership and regulated by the Reserve Bank of Malawi. Ask our team for details on our specific safeguards and oversight.
